Twins at the plate: Minnesota recorded four consecutive singles to open a three-run fifth inning against Toronto closer B.J. Ryan. Glenn Williams, Luis Rodriguez and Alexi Casilla each drove in runs in the frame. Williams and Rodriguez also chipped in RBI singles in the seventh.
Blue Jays at the plate: In the third inning, left fielder Reed Johnson sent a pitch from Twins starter Glen Perkins bouncing off the wall in left-center field for a run-scoring double. Right fielder Alex Rios added an RBI single in the fourth. Infielders Ryan Roberts and Jason Smith combined to drive in three runs in the eighth.
Twins on the mound: Perkins threw 47 pitches -- 30 for strikes -- and allowed one unearned run in his first start of Spring Training. The left-hander gave up two hits and struck out two in three innings. Matt Guerrier gave up one run on two hits and struck out two in two innings of relief.
Blue Jays on the mound: Toronto ace Roy Halladay turned in four perfect frames against the Twins, lowering his spring ERA to 1.00. The right-hander also had two strikeouts. Halladay threw 36 pitches, including 23 for strikes, and induced seven groundouts.
Grapefruit League records: Twins 4-8-1; Blue Jays 4-6-1.
