Indians on the mound:
Paul Byrd looked solid in four innings of work, giving up just a run on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Joe Borowski worked a scoreless inning, as did Roberto Hernandez, Tony Sipp, Jeff Harris and Jason Stanford.
Jays on the mound:
Thomson had a rough one, giving up six runs on five hits, with three walks, two strikeouts and three homers allowed in 3 2/3 innings. Dustin McGowan went 3 1/3 innings in relief, giving up a pair of runs on three hits.

Indians 9-6; Jays 5-8.
The Indians welcome the Devil Rays to Chain of Lakes Park for a 7:05 p.m. ET game on Thursday. Jake Westbrook will start opposite Jae Seo. The Jays travel to Clearwater for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Phillies. Right-hander Josh Towers will get the start.
