Bautista set a Major League Baseball record last year for most fan votes ever received by one player. He finished with 7,454,753, which surpassed the previous high mark of 6,069,688, set by Seattle's Ken Griffey Jr. in 1994.
The veteran outfielder should once again rank among the game's best in voting following two seasons in which he led the Major Leagues in home runs. It marked the first time since Mark McGwire (1996-99) that a player defended his home run king crown in back-to-back years.
While Bautista was the lone Blue Jays player to be voted into the All-Star Game last season, fans will have the opportunity to send more this year. Third baseman Brett Lawrie appears on the ballot for the first time following a rookie campaign that saw him hit .293 with nine home runs and 25 RBIs while posting a .953 OPS in just 43 games.
Other viable candidates include shortstop Yunel Escobar, designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion, second baseman Kelly Johnson and first baseman Adam Lind.
