KANSAS CITY -- An MRI exam on Monday confirmed the inflammation in Sergio Santos' right shoulder but showed no structural damage.
The Blue Jays closer was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, and a visit to orthopedic surgeon Lewis Yocum in California served as confirmation of the injury.
After Monday's win, manager John Farrell said he considered the news good.
Farrell added that Santos wouldn't throw for 10 days to two weeks, and after that the team will "initiate the throwing program."
In Santos' absence, Francisco Cordero picked up two straight saves in the final two games of the Blue Jays' series with the Royals.
