TORONTO -- The Blue Jays optioned left-hander Aaron Laffey to Triple-A
Las Vegas following Wednesday's 4-1 victory over the Orioles.
Laffey had been promoted to the Major Leagues on Monday to provide
depth to an overtaxed bullpen, but he did not appear in a game. The
veteran has had two stints in Toronto this season but has
yet to throw a pitch.
Toronto did not announce a corresponding roster move but indicated that
one is expected prior to Friday night's series opener against Boston. The
transaction likely will involve a position player, as the Blue Jays
anticipate going back to a seven-man bullpen.
The 27-year-old Laffey is 21-23 with a 4.34 ERA in parts of five big
league seasons. He has spent time with the Indians, Mariners and Yankees,
but will now find himself back with Las Vegas to provide organizational
