The Canadian connection will continue.

The Blue Jays and their Class A Northwest League affiliate, the Vancouver Canadians, have re-upped their player-development contract through 2016.

The Canadians and the Blue Jays have been affiliated since 2011.

Dwight Smith Jr., the 53rd overall selection in the 2011 Draft, is among the crop of Blue Jays prospects on the Canadians roster.

"The Vancouver Canadians have been the champions on and off the field during our first two seasons as partners of this great organization," Blue Jays director of Minor League operations Charlie Wilson said in a news release. "We are proud to have Canada's only Minor League baseball club as our partners."
