Blue Jays Claim RHP Thad Weber


The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have claimed RHP THAD WEBER on waivers from the San Diego Padres and have optioned him to Buffalo of the International League (AAA).   To make room on the 40-man roster the Blue Jays have transferred RHP Sergio Santos to the 60-day DL.

WEBER, 28, has made three relief appearances for the San Diego Padres this season posting a 2.00 ERA over nine innings pitched.   In six starts this season with the Tucson Padres of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) the 6-2, 205lb. right-hander posted a 4-1 record with a 3.93 ERA. The Seward, Nebraska native also appeared in two games for the Detroit Tigers last season and has a career record of 0-1 in five Major League games with an ERA of 4.15.
