Blue Jays sign infielder Tolleson to Minor League deal

The Blue Jays agreed to terms on Tuesday with infielder Steve Tolleson on a Minor League contract with an invitation to attend Major League Spring Training.

Tolleson, 30, spent the 2013 season with Triple-A Charlotte in the White Sox organization. He hit .288 with a .381 on-base percentage and a .426 slugging percentage, recording 28 doubles, eight homers and 53 RBIs in 116 games.

Tolleson played second base, third base, shortstop and both corner outfield positions last season. Picked by the Twins in the fifth round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, Tolleson broke into the Majors with the A's in 2010. He played 25 games in the big leagues that year, batting .286/.340/.408 with a home run and four RBIs.

Tolleson made it back to the Majors in 2012 with the Orioles, hitting .183/.227/.310 with two home runs and six RBIs in 29 games. Over nine Minor League seasons, Tolleson owns a career .283/.372/.409 batting line, with 183 doubles, 60 homers and 355 RBIs in 869 games.
