Challenger Baseball looking for help to secure grant

Program provides opportunity for children with special needs to play game they love

|

TORONTO -- Antigonish Challenger Baseball is up for a national grant from the GoodLife Kids Foundation, but the program needs some help from the public in order to secure the much-needed funds.

Antigonish is eligible to win a total of $37,000 for its program. There is a $25,000 national prize available from GoodLife, while finalists in each region will receive $12,000 for first place, $8,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place.

Challenger Baseball is a program that provides an opportunity for children with cognitive and physical special needs to enjoy the full benefits of participating in baseball at a level structured to their abilities.

Voting will take place until Feb. 28 at www.win4kids.com. The public can vote by visiting the website and clicking on the link to "Vote for your favorite program." People will then be instructed to sign into their Facebook account and "Like" the GoodLife Kids Foundation page. Voters are not able to vote via their mobile devices/smart phone. Voters need to use a desktop or laptop computer to vote.

Please note, a popup might appear in Facebook asking for the site to "Access your friends" -- this will not be used for junk mail, and the link is safe. Antigonish is located in Nova Scotia and can be found in the Atlantic region of the website.

People are allowed to vote once per Facebook account. For more information, please visit http://www.antigonishbaseball.com.
