OAKLAND -- Blue Jays manager John Gibbons lost his challenge of a disputed call at first base during the eighth inning of Friday afternoon's game vs. the A's.

With one out in the eighth, Edwin Encarnacion hit a sharp grounder to third baseman Josh Donaldson. Oakland recorded the force out at second and then Nick Punto threw to first for the final out of the inning.

Gibbons opted to challenge the call but replays later showed that Encarnacion did not beat the throw. The call on the field was confirmed and the eighth inning came to an end.
