Blue Jays trade for Valencia


The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired infielder DANNY VALENCIA from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for RHP LIAM HENDRIKS and catcher ERIK KRATZ. 

VALENCIA, 29, has posted a .282 batting average in 36 games this season for the Kansas City Royals with five doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI. The 6-2, 220 lb. right-handed batter is a career .265 hitter with 35 home runs in 371 games for Minnesota (2010-2012), Boston (2012), Baltimore (2013) and Kansas City (2014).

A corresponding move to the 25 man roster will be made after Valencia reports to the Blue Jays.
