Lawrie placed on disabled list

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have placed INF BRETT LAWRIE on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 6, with a left oblique strain and have recalled LHP ROB RASMUSSEN from Buffalo (AAA).

LAWRIE returned from a medical rehab assignment and was activated from his previous stint on the disabled list (fractured right index finger) on Tuesday night. He was then removed in the 4th inning of that game after experiencing lower back tightness.

RASMUSSEN is making his 4th appearance with Toronto this season. The left-handed pitcher has posted a 3.18 ERA (4ER/11.1 IP) in 10 relief appearances with the Blue Jays this season.
