The recovery time is expected to take approximately four-to-six weeks, which means Jenkins won't have enough time to return this season. He had become a versatile arm that manager John Gibbons trusted both in middle and long relief.
Jenkins enjoyed a breakout season in 2014, but he also had to deal with more than his fair share of turmoil. The 26-year-old had an option remaining on his contract, which meant that he was often the odd-man out when the club had to make a roster move.
It seemed like Jenkins was constantly being shuttled back and forth between Toronto and Triple-A Buffalo. He was optioned to the Minors six times, but he finished his big league season with a 2.56 ERA in 31 2/3 innings.
