David Shelley Duncan...Graduated from Canyon del Oro High School in Tucson, AZ...Was two-time Arizona High School State Player of the Year (1997, 1998)...His 1997 team won the Arizona High School State Championship... Attended the University of Arizona from 1999-2001...Holds school records for career home runs (55) and single-season home runs (24 in 2001)...Named a First-Team All-American in 2001...His father, Dave, was the Diamondbacks' Special Assistant to the General Manager and Pitching Consultantant from 2014-2017, and also served as a Major League pitching coach for 32 years (1980-2011)...His brother, Chris, played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2005-2009...Co-founded the Tucson Youth Baseball Association.


Selected by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2001 First-Year Player Draft and played seven Major League seasons with the Yankees (2007-2009), Cleveland Indians (2010-2012) and the Tampa Rays (2013)...Hit a combined .226 (200-for-885) with 42 doubles, 43 home runs and 144 RBI in 330 Major League games...Earned International League MVP honours in 2009 after batting .277 with 30 doubles, a triple, 30 homers and 99 RBI over 123 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.


Has managed at three seperate Minor League levels for a combined record of 231-199 (.537)...Was an undergraduate assistand fro the University of Arizona baseball team from 2014-2015...Spent 2015 to 2018 with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a manager throughout their Minor League system...Led the Class-A Hilsboro Hops to a Northwest League Championship in 2015...Managed the Advanced-A Visalia Rawhide to a 3rd-place finish in 2017...Spent the 2018 season with the Double-A Jackson Generals and led them to their 2nd Southern League Championship.
